Acryl Gel vs. Polygel
Acrylgel arrived in the world of artificial nail materials a few years ago, but where does the name come from and what exactly does it cover?
GEL OR ACRYLIC? BOTH!
Acrylgel is a really special material, as it is neither acrylic nor gel, it is actually an ideal combination of both materials. It has the best properties of gels in that it can be shaped as long as UV/Led light does not reach it, so you don't have to rush too much, the right shape and surface can be created conveniently and precisely. During the curing, a flexible and strong structure is created, as in the case of building gels and the end result is a nail that can be easily and quickly filed.
Acrylgel has the advantages of acrylic as extremely strong adhesion, so it holds up well even with problematic nails. Its texture is thicker than builder gels, it is really similar than acrylic and the method of handling is also the same: spread it with a flat brush and smooth the surface with a gentle, smoothing motion. Due to its thick texture, it holds its shape very well, does not move at all, does not flow. As with acrylic, there is also an assistant liquid here, but in this case it is not needed for polymerization but to keep the brush wet and prevent the material from sticking to it.
ENDLESS COMBINATION POSSIBILITIES
Since it has the properties of both gel and acrylic, it can be combined well with almost any material. You can safely use base gels underneath if you want to achieve even stronger, more flexible adhesion. Acrylgel perfectly usable with gelpolishes, either want to cover the surface or use it between layers, no bonding material is needed. In the same way, the adhesion will be perfect with other builder and color gels and acrylic, so it is very easy and simple to even change material type during infill process.
ACRYLGEL THAT IS MORE THAN GEL
The properties of acrylgel are already indicated by its name, since acrylgel is a combination of the names of the material groups acrylic and gel. The same material can also be found under another name: the name polygel (= more than gel) indicates that we are talking about a kind of gel material, which is much more than that, more versatile. The most appropriate name is probably polyacrylgel, which perhaps best reflects the truth: a material that goes beyond traditional gel and acrylic.
After all we can say that it is a material that has a good chance of becoming a favorite of both gel lovers and acrylic fan professionals.
