Winter nail care tips – Protect your nails during the cold season!
The cold winter months present significant challenges not only for your skin but also for your nails. Dry air, harsh weather conditions, and sudden temperature changes can all contribute to nail breakage and weakening.
The following tips can help maintain your nails' health and beauty. Are you already following any of them?
1. Protect your nails from the cold
Wear gloves when outdoors in cold weather! Direct exposure to low temperatures and wind can significantly weaken nail structure and dry out the nail bed. Choose warm yet breathable gloves to keep your nails "breathing."
2. Master hydration
Use cuticle oils and hand creams rich in vitamin E and other nourishing ingredients. Massage the oil into the cuticles around the nails and even buff it into the nail surface for maximum effect.
3. Avoid excessive handwashing and chemicals
While hygiene is essential, especially during the winter months, excessive handwashing or frequent exposure to chemicals can easily dry out your nails. Use gentle, moisturizing soaps, and if working with chemicals, always wear gloves.
4. Maintain your nails regularly
Winter takes a toll on nails, so make it a habit to file and shape them regularly to prevent breakage. Opt for a fine-grain file (e.g., Nail File - 2-Way Super Shiner), which works gently, and always file in one direction to avoid further splitting.
5. Use strengthening base coats
In winter, nail protection deserves extra attention. The FX Base Coat - Nail Polish - 7ml not only provides a beautiful, slightly pink tint but also protects against discoloration and ensures a secure base for Gel Effect nail polish.
6. Eat nutrient-rich foods
Your diet plays a key role in the condition of your nails. Eat foods rich in biotin, such as eggs, almonds, and sweet potatoes. Zinc, iron, and proteins also help strengthen and restore nails.
7. Stay hydrated from the inside
We tend to drink less water during cold weather, but staying hydrated is crucial for healthy nails. Drink at least 1.5–2 liters of water daily to prevent dryness.
